It’s been a long time and Gibbs shouldn’t have left you. But guess what’s he’s baaack. After noticing Freddie Gibbs’ insightful and often humorous observations on sports through his Twitter account, Rap Radar decided to give him a forum to express his thoughts on the thrills of victory and the agonies of defeat. It’s Gangsta Gibbs Wide World Of Sports. The black Bill Simmons is here. And for his 14th column, he weighs in on Tebowmania.
Entertainment and sports through the eyes of a gangsta nigga. I don’t make the rules I just play the game. I don’t pick the players, the coaches nor do I make the schedules. I’m just at home watchin’ this shit unfold before my eyes just like you. And just like you, I’m still haunted by Tebowmania, even in the off-season.
I know nigga, it’s about that time of year when every game in the NBA is crucial for playoff seeding, so you probably think I should be obliged to talk about hoops.
Fuck that.
LeBron might take the MVP, Kobe kept his wife and David Stern is still a dick. Plus winning a ring in a 66 game season is different than winning one in an 82 game season, just a thought.
We’re also in the midst of March Madness with a highly respectable final four teams with no cinderellas (Sorry VCU). I didn’t even fill out a bracket this year though. I’m more interested in player-potential at the college level more so than I am the actual games or standings. Terrance Jones from Kentucky might be dope in the league by the way.
Back to this Tebow shit though.
Timothy, you’re not a quarterback at the NFL level. When you won 6 straight games I wasn’t surprised though. I was literally in awe of how you won those games. Do I think a few of those teams let you off the hook in the clutch? Of course they did. They clearly underestimated your skill set and your, “will to win” that has middle America in a frenzy.
No doubt you got talent. I mean shit, you got a Heisman trophy, and you knocked a two-time SuperBowl champion out of the first round of the playoffs, but you also have a QB rating around 75. I guess that’s why John Elway would much rather have Peyton Manning taking snaps in a wheelchair than a 100% healthy Tim Tebow running his offense.
But now you’re headed to the media monster of New York City and this craze is gonna do nothing but grow exponentially, especially with a coach like Rex Ryan and a guy like Mark Sanchez skating on thin ice at QB. Soon as Sanchez makes one tiny mistake, the world will be calling for Tebow to save the Jets and that’s sad.
Maybe this could be the motivation that Mark needs to get his team to the next level. Maybe it can be a total disaster. I ain’t mad at ya Timmy, I think you’re an overall great guy and a horrible passer.
And one more thing, why the fuck are we holding a press conference for a back-up QB? If Mike Vick had your numbers he’d be playing football in Canada. I’m out this bitch. Peace to my nigga Elliott, It’s Tha World!!!
